International Dance Council-CID, is the United Nations of Dance
and the official partner of UNESCO
(United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
It serves as the umbrella organization for all forms of dance in all countries around the world with members from among prominent federations, associations, schools, companies and individuals.
Now, for the first time in it’s 50 year history, Melanesian dance
will be represented globally as a member of the CID.
Under the authority of UNESCO, and with support from Resources Fiji LLC, Ethnic Arts Institute International will establish a regional section of the International Dance Council in Melanesia. The new section plans to be headquartered in Suva, Fiji and will invite membership from practitioners, schools and professional dance institutions throughout the region. The Melanesian section of CID promises it’s affiliated members support to hold organize festivals and special events and participate in international showcases.
The Melanesian section will expand opportunities for regional culture-bearers, heighten the global presence of Pacific Islander culture and elevate the work of Melanesian dance practitioners through CID’s globally recognized dance studies certification program.
